State of the Industry 2017: Top 50 Agencies Revealed
As a small and relatively young agency, we were both delighted and surprised at being mentioned in the recent 50 C&IT Agencies 2017. Whilst size has never been a priority for Purple Dog Solutions, it does prove that we have the necessary scale in order to compete with the larger agencies out there, without compromising on our aim to offer a bespoke and very client-centric service. We would anticipate that we remain just outside the top 50 going forward, simply because we can’t envisage being as personal as we are, if we grow much larger. We still believe that small is beautiful, but we are very flattered to be named alongside some fantastic industry names… it’s all very grown up stuff!
Here is the main excerpt as written by Susie Harwood of C&IT:
“The Top 50 Agencies table is ranked by event-based turnover and agencies were asked to provide this figure, along with total UK turnover and pre-tax profit, for their most recent financial year.
New agencies in the Top 50 this year include FreemanXP EMEA at 13, In2Events at 44, emc3 at 46 and XSEM at 47, while Conference Care and Pure Events Management who have featured in previous years crept back in at 48 and 49.
Absolute Corporate Events, Purple Dog Solutions, Ex Events, Venues and Events International and NYS Corporate (since acquired by Capita) narrowly missed out on this year’s Top 50, ranking 51-55.
Among the biggest climbers this year were Smyle, which jumped from 19 to 10, BCD Meetings and Events, which took 7th spot, up from 16 last year following its acquisition of Zibrant, and drp which climbed from 22 back up to 14.
Agencies missing this year include GPJ, which didn’t submit its financial figures, and AddingValue, which went into voluntary liquidation in April.
Last week, C&IT revealed that Jack Morton Worldwide had taken the number one spot in the Top 20 Agencies list, followed by Banks Sadler, CWT Meetings and Events, Capita Travel and Events and Ashfield Meetings & Events.”
